When considering dining chairs as a standalone purchase, the first thing to pay attention to is your table’s height. Is it standard table height–29-30”? We don’t want to have an Edith Ann situation – nothing’s worse than a mismatch between a table and its chairs. Some patio tables can be as low as 27”. Then there is ‘Euro Dining’ which is about 25”. It's all good, as long as the chairs match. At Villa Terrazza, if you come in looking for chairs, we will always ask you the table height – our job is to prevent a table/chair mismatch disaster. Another important measurement is the distance from the bottom of the table to the ground. Especially if you are considering armchairs, make sure that the arms of the chair will clear the underside of the table so they’ll tuck in.

Outdoor dining chairs come in so many different flavors. These days we’re loving some of the mixed-media dining chairs, where disparate materials, think: wood & woven, or stainless steel and reeds, are combined for a great look! Dining chairs normally should have a different ‘stance’ than a lounge chair – they should be more upright to facilitate sitting at a table eating. Contrast that stance to a Lounge Chair, where the focus is on kicking back and relaxing – the angle of the seat-back is at more of a relaxed angle than in an outdoor dining chair.
